3.3 Karl dixit: back to the sources The history of the reception of Barth’s texts is no substitute for an examination of the primary sources themselves.64 It is especially important in Barth’s case to listen to all that he has to say about Scripture; readers miss the true significance of Barth’s statements about the Bible when they attempt to make sense of sentences apart from their “canonical” context (i.e. the whole of Barth’s Church Dogmatics).
